It's a Wonderful Life 1946

George Bailey is a man who has given up his dreams. In a moment of desperate frustration, George has thoughts of suicide on Christmas Eve.

Immediately, his guardian angel, Clarence is sent from Heaven to intervene. Clarence shows George what life would have been like if he had never existed.

Based on short story and booklet "The Greatest Gift," self-published by Philip Van Doren Stern in 1943. Which itself is loosely based on "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens 1843.
