And as we gazed upward into the black velvet sky
The moon opened up upon us and a thousand bright milky white streams poured into the pools of our entranced eyes
Then the stars swirled and formed patterns which were born from the deepest recesses of our souls, so that we could again stare into the black canvas and see paintings of our true selves
Haunting portraits if you will
Oh how we laughed out loud at the sights displayed before us
At the tormented beauty of it
At the pathetic truth of it

Together we shared our paintings with one another and laughed even harder as we realized that they were indeed the same
Still, together we did capture our essence in the cool crisp air
Together we found ourselves and once again found each other
And as we looked about us we nodded in acceptance
For we at long last knew who we were

I smiled at you
Your warmth revealed itself to me
We held each other close, trembling somewhat
We pressed our lips hard against each other for we knew it would be the last time
And then together we once again looked skyward
And the moon ignited our glowing faces
