Term Limits are ruining the Republic

We need to end Presidential term limits. Get offended.

The 22nd and 17th Amendments have perverted the entire Republic. Like Cancer, it grew and grew until our entire system of government was infected. From the top - down.

The founders never meant for the President to have term limit restrictions. The passage of the 22nd Amendment (ratified), establishing 4-year limits with a max of 2-terms was completely arbitrary. A Knee-Jerk reaction to FDR's 16 years in office.

While term limits may seem like common sense or a way to protect the Republic from tyranny, it does just the opposite. Term limits create a huge burden on Americans, it disrupts foreign policy every 4 years and leave the country in a permanent state of uncertainty. Not only for citizens but for world powers.

Billions and billions of dollars are spent. Election after Election. We can never F''king relax. We can never have consistency.

Another perversion to the Republic, worth mentioning, is the 17th Amendment. That should be repealed ASAP

The Twenty-Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1951, states:

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was originally elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

This amendment was introduced in response to Franklin D. Roosevelt being elected for four terms, aiming to limit presidential tenure to a maximum of two elected terms (or ten years if they completed more than two years of another's term).

The Seventeenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1913, states:

The Seventeenth Amendment changed this by providing for the direct election of Senators by the people of each state, thereby making the Senate more directly accountable to the populace. It also included provisions for filling Senate vacancies, allowing for temporary appointments by state governors until a special election could be held.
