Basic Donut Dough Recipe
Ingredients:
3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
¼ cup (50g) sugar
1 tsp salt
2 large eggs
¾ cup (180ml) warm milk
¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
2. Add eggs, butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
3. Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
2. Let It Rise
1. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
3. Shape the Donuts
1. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch (1.3 cm) thick.
2. Use a round cutter to cut out circles. For classic donuts, use a smaller cutter to remove the center. For filled donuts, skip this step.
3. Place the cut donuts on a floured tray, cover, and let them rise for 30-40 minutes.
4. Fry the Donuts
1. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
2. Fry the donuts for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
3. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Type 1: Classic Sugar-Coated Donuts
Roll the warm donuts in granulated sugar or powdered sugar.

Type 2: Chocolate-Glazed Donuts
Ingredients for the Glaze:
1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Mix powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
2. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and let them set on a rack.

Type 3: Filled Donuts
Ingredients for Filling:
1 cup (240ml) pastry cream, jam, or Nutella
Instructions:
1. Use a piping bag with a small nozzle to inject the filling into the side of each donut.
2. Dust the filled donuts with powdered sugar for a finishing touch.
