Super Mario World (スーパーマリオワールド Sūpā Mario Wārudo?), originally called Super Mario Bros. in Japan. 4 (スーパーマリオブラザーズ4 Sūpā Mario Burazāzu fō?),[7] is a platform video game developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development and published by Nintendo in 1990 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) console. The story follows Mario's journey to save Princess Toadstool and Dinosaur Land from the antagonist Bowser and his henchmen, the Koopalings. The gameplay is similar to previous games in the Super Mario series: players control Mario or his brother Luigi through a series of stages, the objective of which is to reach a giant gate at the end. Super Mario World introduces Yoshi, a dinosaur who can eat enemies, as well as gain abilities by eating Koopa Troopas shells.
