In the context of this Chapter, Abram's and Sarai's deal they made with each other in the last chapter may have had some ulterior motives, it seems...

Were Abram and Sarai really devising a way to to get in good with the powers that be in Egypt to better their "Lot" in life?

Abram:
"Sarai, if we can get in good with the Pharaoh, maybe we can turn our lemons into lemonade. Why don't you say you're my sister, get in good with the ruling class of Egypt, and let's work it to get rich?

Sarai:
"I don't know, Abram... That seems a bit risky.

Abram:
Come on, Sarai. It's now or never! We need this...

Sarai:
But Abram...

Lot:
I say we do it.

Abram:
Two against one...

Sarai:
Fine!
