Why Was The Crucifixion of Jesus Necessary?

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ stands as the supreme demonstration of God's perfect justice and boundless love. It is through the cross that God's justice is fully satisfied, as sin must be punished, yet His love is magnificently shown, as He Himself bears that punishment in Christ. This act is not just an act of mercy, but the very embodiment of divine justice intertwined with divine love.

Romans 3:25-26 - "God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus." - This passage explains how God can be both just and the justifier of those who have faith in Jesus.

1 John 4:10 - "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." - Here, the Bible reveals that God's love is shown not by our love for Him, but by His initiative in sending Jesus to atone for our sins, thus fulfilling the demands of justice through love.

Colossians 2:14 - "having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross." - This verse speaks to how Christ, on the cross, took away the record of our sins, essentially canceling our legal debt by His own sacrifice, thus maintaining the integrity of divine justice while extending divine mercy.
