Timothée Chalamet Electrifies as Bob Dylan in ‘A Complete Unknown’: Journey Through 1960s Folk

Just got back from watching "A Complete Unknown".

Timothée Chalamet absolutely crushes it as young Bob Dylan - the way he nails Dylan's mannerisms and artistic struggle/evolution is absolutely incredible. He's not Leo DiCaprio and doesn't need to be... Chalamet is carving his own path, similar to how Bob Dylan carved his. 🎸🎤

This isn't your typical boring biopic, folks.

It's more like stepping into a time machine and landing smack in the middle of 1960s Greenwich Village.

The vibe, the music, the fashion - it's all there and it feels so real. Even though I think that the movie struggled with its pacing at times and failed to convey some of Bob Dylan's motivations and self-reflection around certain major life events, I still came away wanting more and feeling like Chalamet captured the entire theater as well. People spoke highly as I left.

The movie doesn't try to explain every little thing about Dylan (let's face it, can anyone really figure him out?), focusing primarily on his NYC arrival in 1961 and his evolving transition as an artist with the culmination of his transformation at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. Even though it focuses only on Bob Dylan's earlier career, the movie succeeds in showing how he shook up the folk scene and drove everyone around him crazy in the best way possible.

Fair warning: if you're not into Dylan or 60s folk music, some parts might drag a bit. But trust me, the performances and the overall atmosphere make it worth it.
