KCET Admission Test Overview

• KCET is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) in over 50 cities in Karnataka.
• Eligibility criteria include being Indian Nationals, having studied for a minimum of 7 years (Class 1 to 12th) as of the 1st week of July of the academic year, having studied Physics, Maths in 10+2 or equivalent along with English and one of the optional subjects such as Chemistry, BioTech, Biology, Electronics & Computer Science.
• Minimum aggregate marks varies based on the category of the students.
• Candidates from Horanadu & Gadinadu Categories and whose Mother Tongue is Kannada or Tule or Kadava must also appear for KCET and also for Kannada Language Test & score minimum marks.
• Candidates from any other State can apply for KCET but must not be eligible for the Government Quota.
• NRI, PIO or OCI Candidates cannot apply as KCET is only for Indian Students.
• The merit list is prepared based on normalised Score in KCET, with tie breaking rules applying as per JEE.
• The process of counseling of KCET includes registration, document verification, filling courses and colleges in order of preferences, paying the Seat Acceptance & Admission Fees, and reporting to the allotted colleges.
• Three rounds of counseling will be held, including the Special Round.
• Candidates have four options if they are allotted a seat: freeze/select it, retain the seat, participate in further rounds with the same choices, or quit the admission process.
• Important documents to submit include KCET Application Form, Proof of Application Fee Payment, KCET Admit Card, Marksheets of 10th & 12th, passport size photographs, Study Certificate counter-signed by the concerned BEO/DDPI, and Category/Domicile/PwD Certificate.
