Astal is a 2D side-scrolling action platformer developed and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn in 1995. Known for its vibrant hand-drawn visuals and detailed sprite animations, the game follows the story of Astal, a powerful hero tasked with rescuing Leda, a girl with the ability to create life, from the clutches of the evil god Jerado. Set in a fantastical world called Quartilia, players guide Astal through beautifully crafted levels filled with environmental puzzles, enemies, and challenging boss fights. The game is praised for its striking art style, atmospheric soundtrack, and unique gameplay mechanics, though it received mixed reviews due to its short length and relatively straightforward design. Despite this, Astal remains a cult classic celebrated for its artistry and charm.

Despite having a Sega Saturn when it originally came out, this will be my first time playing Astal.
