Seconds from a disaster, skilled Pilot avoided Plane collision at Los Angeles Airport

In high-traffic airports like LAX, pilots work with air traffic controllers to manage takeoffs, landings, and taxiing, often in busy and sometimes challenging weather conditions. Through a combination of these advanced systems and skills, collisions are rare, but they still require continuous vigilance and careful coordination.

NEW: The FAA has launched an investigation after the men's Gonzaga basketball team nearly got eliminated by a Delta plane taking off.

"Stop! Stop! Stop!" the air traffic controller could be heard saying.

The chartered Embraer E135 jet, carrying the team, had just landed at LAX from Spokane, Washington.

In the video, which was uploaded to YouTube, videographer Kevin Ray said he had never heard an ATC controller tell a plane to "stop" like that.

"Wow, in the years I've been doing this, I've never heard an ATC controller tell a plane to 'Stop, stop, stop,'" he said.

The incident happened on Friday before Gonzaga's game against UCLA.
