Bible Study: I Corinthians Part I

I Corinthians 1:1-19

We continue our study through what Paul Lucas at Hillview Baptist Church (https://www.youtube.com/@hillviewbaptistchurch1821) calls "Paul's Curriculum of Grace." We started with Romans a while back and intend to continue in order through all 13 of Paul's letters.

We'll show you where Corinth is and address questions regarding the timing and location of the writing of Paul's First Epistle to the Corinthians, (thanks to Pastor Justin Johnson at Grace Ambassadors in Indiana https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=grace+ambassadors), as well as questions regarding it's authenticity. We'll examine the difference between "The Day of our Lord Jesus Christ" as referenced by Paul versus "The Day of the Lord" Spoken of by earlier prophets. And we'll discuss how the sign gifts, and other examples of carnal circumstances produced divisions and pride in the members at Corinth.

Find out what "the knowledge of the truth" encompasses, along with the biblical definition of the word "perfect" as compared to Plato's, (and the world's). And we'll discuss what "that which is perfect" means in it's biblical context, God's vow to Israel regarding their perfection, and how the work of the prophets, and especially their written scriptures were ordained to maintain Israel's perfection, along with Jesus' ultimate accomplishment of perfection in the reconciling of the Heaven and Earth back to God.

Finally we'll review how Paul is tasked with delivering new information regarding salvation and the truth to the world in light of Israel's temporary blindness.
