My Top Tips For Using The Kestrel 5700 Elite In PRS!

After stumbling through my first year, I now have some good tips to use the Kestrel 5700 Elite better in PRS!
I was terrible getting started with this. I was so slow and it took me way too much time between stages. I can finally move from stage to stage and take a few readings and get my dope written down and quickly be ready to run the stage.
Initially, I would do everything manually on the Kestrel itself. Stop doing this! Whenever possible, just build a stage in the app as a sector and push the data to the Kestrel. Then just take your target direction reading and wind reading, and you are set!
These are the steps I use to now build my whole match before and have everything ready to go so worrying over the numbers is not a problem any longer.
I can build up to 30 "stages", called sectors in the Kestrel, and keep them saved. I can update/change them quickly if needed.
This is an entirely better way to do this match prep work!

I also got in the habit of changing my weather from lock to live between stages. Let it update with current conditions, then lock it again. This keeps the weather conditions current with each stage as the days warm.

I can not stress enough. Use the app and get familiar with it. You can save a lot of data there and quickly send to the Kestrel. Now that I know how to display the sectors and change them on the Kestrel, I don't even have to push the numbers to the unit during the match! Or I can do it all at the start before the match starts if the stages are not sent out before.
