What in tarnation is wrong with this catfish?

Just another night out fishing the Potomac River in Washington, DC when we catch a nice blue catfish with what we call the Potomac River Herp. What is it actually, I have no idea but if you're from the DC area, you know the Potomac is known to be nasty waters.
