Why Are Social Media So Throttled?

Why does the algorithim on Social Media organise the replies based on the Content and not Newest First or Oldest First? Or Best Rated Worst Rated? Who's commenting for real? Why do they keep it the Comment Board? If they don't like the replies, don't like the authors, what's the real purpose of social media? Spying on the users? And giving the kill list to Netanyahu?
PLUS: It is disturbing that the Social Media Bosses have announced they'll change the algorithm now "because Trump won the Election". They don't realise how this sounds, do they?
