A young doctor treats a mysterious man in the emergency room of the hospital where she works. Blood-streaming and also confused, he has emerged there, communicating in a language she does not understand. He tries to tell her something and bites her neck just before he dies. As if the soul of the dead has transferred to her, she is now plagued by visions in which she can recreate the last days of her deceased patient. She embarks on a search for traces in the life of a man who was a recognized anthropologist during his lifetime, who has encountered the track of so-called "Eskimo spirits" in his scientific research. These have driven him to death and the young doctor is also about to lose her mind.
