In one paragraph I'll summaries what's really destroying Australia's health system....

Medicare's audit system- Professional Services Review (PSR) has operated for 30 years. PSR's conviction rate has been maintained at a steady 100% since 2008 (173/173, if you count the two doctors who died being forced through this disgraceful system).  Doctors typically face 4,000 – 6,000 charges.  No judge hears the cases as the investigating and proescuting committee also functoins as the judge. Upon appeal to the Federal court the verdicts can be either guilty now – or guilty later, because doctors are referred back to the star chamber committees (PSR) again. How can this be classed as an appeal? PSR crushes the health needs of the poor and marginalized and those most in need of services along with the doctors and anyone who challenges them. Mind you the PSR commital aka Judge, Jury and Executioner is made up of three (3) official who do not even practice in specialty feilds such as chronic pain or addiction. It is wicked to the point of being iniquitous. Pain and addiction medicine services have been mis-regulated for so long and so often that they need their own dedicated regulators. It is high time a formal thoroughgoing overhaul of PSR was conducted.
