Out of the Shadows (1 of 3)

This is the first in a 3-part series on a remarkable silent film titled, "Out of the Shadows". It was created by the superintendent of the Utica State Hospital in New York State. We don't have a lot of information about the origins of the film. However, I sent a copy to Martin Pernick, an expert in the history of medicine at the University of Michigan. He suggested that based on the cars, houses and telephones, the film might be dated to the late 1920's.
