GW is just really really bad at remembering when and about what they have virtue signaled. Hell! they cant tell Night Lords from Ultramarines so this hardly surprises me. It's the logical endpoint of the "everything is cannon but not everything is true" line. With no more need to maintain what was once the pride and joy of Warhammer 40k Internal consistency.
