This is a huge international group on telegram, raising questions about perhaps why the owner and CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, was arrested by french police, on August 24, 2024, on criminal charges relating to alleged lack of content moderation and refusal to work with police, which allegedly allowed the spread of criminal activity.

Durov was born in Russia and he co-founded the social networking site Vkontakte in 2006. He left VK in 2014 following disputes with the company's new owners and increased pressure from Russian authorities, which led him to leave the country. In 2013 he and his older brother, Nikolai Durov, developed Telegram and in 2017 they moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates where its headquarters are now located.

The Telegram rape chat group with 70,000 men were participating in chat groups facilitating discussion and suggestions on how to rape and sexually assault women, a German investigation has revealed.

There are many groups on Telegram, with users sharing explicit tips and content promoting sexual violence against women.

German broadcaster ARD, alongside its TRG_F investigative team revealed that these groups were promoting and exchanging strategies promoting sexual violence. These groups were primarily English speaking and attract international users. Participants claimed to have assaulted women, including wives, sisters and mothers while some shared live footage of these henious acts.
