Frontline of Renewable Energy Zones - With Grant Piper & Emma Bowman - CtN12

Steven Tripp is joined by Grant Piper and Emma Bowman, who are both residents within the 20,000 square kilometre Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWOREZ). The CWOREZ envelops towns such as Dubbo, Dunedoo, Gilgandra, Coolah, Mudgee, Wellington and more.

Grant is a community leader and Chair of the National Rational Energy Network (NREN), which comprises of over 100 community groups that are impacted by current or future renewable energy projects.

Emma is a fifth generation Dunedoo district farmer, with her family farming in the area for over 200 years. She has a deep connection with the land and rural community that she has been living and working almost her entire life.

Both Grant and Emma highlight the impact that the implementation of the Renewable Energy Zone is having on their land and their communities. They detail the environmental destruction that is taking place on their farmlands and prime agricultural land as a result of the multitude of solar, wind, battery and high-voltage projects that are taking place within the REZ.

They also discuss their feelings towards city politicians and journalists who try to trivialise their concerns, when they have not physically been out to communities within the CWOREZ to witness the true impact.
