Objective: that the brethren may continually please the Lord more and more through all of our years in service

Define – mature/ity, sanctification, service, walk, please/ing, grow/ing

Areas whereby we must grow more in Jesus:
1) In Rejoicing in His Glory – 1 Chronicles 16:10
2) In Zeal for the Lord’s Justice/Judgment – Isaiah 9:7
3) In Our Knowledge of the Lord - Hosea 6:3, John 14:26, 2 Peter 3:18
a) More wisdom - Ephesians 1:17-19, Ephesians 3:10
b) Power and Fellowship - Philippians 3:10
4) In His Grace - John 1:16, 2 Peter 3:18
5) In the Word of God - 1 Peter 2:2
6) In Love - Matthew 22:37, John 14:23, John 21:7, John 21:15, John 21:17
Galatians 5:6, Ephesians 6:23, Ephesians 6:24, Colossians 1:4

How to Grow more in Jesus:
1) Know His Commandments- v.2
2) Be Holy/Sanctified more and more – vv.3-7
a) We are not sinless, but we should sin less
b) Know areas where sin abound and make the effort to win over it.
3) Love God, His Word and the brethren – vv. 8-10, v.18
4) Always be Honest in and out of the church (e.g. work)
5) Look forward – be excited, be ready for the coming of the Lord – vv. 13-18

Message/conclusion:

Let us continually please the Lord more and more through all of our years in service to Him
