Five police raids on this one mans home all caught on CCTV, Queensland police lying to the court, Magistrates jailing Simon Hickey based on his political beliefs without even hearing the evidence. Then refusing the imprisoned man records of his own court hearing. Simon gets the shits with the whole process and starts uploading all the material to his website, which causes them to exert even more pressure on him to keep quiet. Finally, after the fifth raid and a dozen bizarre kangaroo court appearances Simon leaves Queensland, only to be brought back, extradited for 'contempt of court'. A little known section of Australian law which states that one shall not make public statements which 'scandalize the courts' or make them look bad. Simon's response was that he was only reporting on all the events, if those events made the public lose confidence in the legal system, then its wasn't his words, but their actions which have caused it. Never the less he is sentenced to 9 months jail for 'depriving the public of confidence in the court system' and serves 12. This story is so bizarre and ridiculous it could only happen in Queensland Australia.
