Synopsis:

By day, Professor Frederick Brenner (Bela Lugosi) is a distinguished criminology professor. By night, under the alias Karl Wagner, he operates a soup kitchen in the Bowery, which serves as a front for his criminal activities. Wagner recruits down-and-out individuals from the soup kitchen to join his gang, orchestrating a series of robberies and murders. Unbeknownst to his recruits, Wagner has a sinister practice of disposing of his henchmen once they've served their purpose, with the assistance of a deranged doctor who experiments on the corpses in the basement. As the police close in and his double life begins to unravel, Wagner's two worlds collide with deadly consequences.
