Why do we need mind training if everything I think and see is meaningless?
Learning is about unlearning— through practice & application.
We’re coming to see that what upsets us is our meaningless thoughts showing us a meaningless world… a perception of the past, with which we’ve become distracted and preoccupied.

2 The point of the exercises is to help you clear your mind of all past associations, to see things exactly as they appear to you now, and to realize how little you really understand about them. [CE W-3.2:1]
What is seen through a lens of ego, or the belief separation, is in fact really all the same meaningless perception.
It’s false perception, and false causation, so it seems to be very upsetting and fearful— this is what is totally meaningless.

Our meaningless perception, our upsets, point to our un-inspected beliefs and assumptions about ourselves and the world. Here are some of those fundamental beliefs:

🌟The belief that images and objects seem to exist separate and independent of the meaning we have given them.
🌟The belief that my private thoughts are who I am— my private thoughts are based in reality; my real thoughts.
🌟The belief in false causation— that upsetting emotions are caused by the outside world, the people, and the situations that seem to happen.
🌟the belief that preoccupation with past learning and thinking is my safety.
🌟the belief that the past and future are different.
