Church Leadership Speaks After Returning to Church Destroyed in Palisades Fire

Ross Chitwood, Director of Worship and Community at Community United Methodist Church, and Pastor John Shaver spoke Friday afternoon after returning to their church, which was destroyed alongside a large number of homes and businesses in Pacific Palisades

Chitwood spoke about the loss of a church member in the Palisades Fire, and the loss of his home. He recounted his experience evacuating Tuesday morning

Pastor John Shaver spoke about some of the history of the church, which was founded in 1922. He said it was the church that started a town and will rebuild it. He spoke about support he, his family, the church and community have received, and stated “our motto at my church in Valencia was ‘We’re here for good’, our motto here is gonna be ‘We’re here for the Palisades’”
