My reviews cover indie games that i have bought, had gifted to me and have been provided by developers for review. In this episode I check out the highly acclaimed Visual Novel Heads Will Roll Reforged. This game was developed by 1917 Studios and was published by Valkyrie Initiative, who also worked on one of the best indie soulslikes on Steam called Skelethrone: The Chronicles of Ericona, which ive also reviewed

Heads Will Roll Reforged is the remastered version of the critically acclaimed Heads Will Roll, which is a fusion of Visual Novel, Turn Based Strategy and Survival RPG. The story follows a young soldier looking for fortune and glory who finds himself caught in one of the bloodiest periods of history, the Hundred Years War. As you navigate the deadly conditions of the battlefield as well as the politics of the kings of England and France, youll need to choose how you will forge your legacy. Will you become known as an Honorable Knight, pursuing justice and righteousness above all else, or will you pursue wealth and glory as an unscrupulous thief or eliminate your enemies with treachery and poison. Truly ambitious players can even attempt to acquire the ultimate prize, to become king themselves

The game mixes a Visual Novel approach to illustrate the players adventure, along with survival mechanics requiring you to scavenge for materials to craft weapons, armour and items to use in battle. The combat sections of the game play out using the games detailed turn based system, utilising different weapon skills, stances and formations to survive. You actions throughout the campaign will determine what friendships youll forge, the factions you will ally yourself with and also whether you will find romance and continue your legacy with a family of your own.

Heads Will Roll Reforged is an extremely popular title which was well received with players on steam. There is also a selection of DLCs that expand the game with new weapons, characters and quests. I hope to showcase these in the future
