The Small Back Room (1949)

Directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. Set during World War II, the film follows Sammy Rice (David Farrar), a brilliant but troubled scientist working in a government research lab. Struggling with alcoholism and a physical disability, Sammy is tasked with defusing a deadly new German bomb.
