Pilate's dream

In this scene from Vladimir Bortko's 2005 series "The Master and Margarita", based upon Mikhail Bulgakov's novel, Pilate has a dream about the prisoner Yeshua Ha-Nozri, an errant philosopher whom he executed the same morning. Bulgakov's novel deals with the spiritual torment of bureaucrats as a result of their primary vice. The book was written at the height of Stalin's purges in the mid-thirties when multitudes of bureaucrats had a share in this type of trauma.
