Parody of Hitler & how churches closed down because of a little snow

Sadly, most churches in West Tennessee closed their doors yesterday, because of a little snow. I don’t usually like satire or parodies. But at the beginning of COVID I did one parody, using a famous scene from the movie Downfall. Where the sinister Hitler was ranting & raving in a meeting with leaders. My parody was how Big Eva, or the establishment in the church, obeyed Caesar (or Hitler) rather than Christ during COVID.

And today, I’m making my second parody from the same movie scene. But this time how a majority of churches in West Tennessee mishandled the recent “storm” that came our way last week. They closed down their local churches.

A little background.

I wrote about this here early Saturday morning. The media, local law enforcement, and the National Weather Service warned people last week to “stay home.” But in reality, by God’s perfect providence, He blessed us with six inches of snow and a winter wonderland. That “storm” was not a curse as many complained. It was a blessing from our Lord.

Even knowing we had clear blue sunny skies all day Saturday, and well-plowed roads, a majority of churches shut down Sunday. On Sunday, I even drove around doing reconnaissance at many of the churches that closed down, and the roads and skies were even more clear. Sadly, of all days, on the Lord’s Day, these church properties were abandoned and vacant of any signs of life. It reminded me of the church of Sardis.

I did some research and learned the fear of snow is so common, that it has been given a clinical name called chionophobia, a “fear of snow.” But a solution to this problem is this. Repent, and fear God, not the snow that He brings us. And keep the doors of our sanctuaries open and let the members of the church decide if they should dare go to church or not.
