Red Sea dive-boat survivors tell of terrifying escape and being trapped for hours | BBC News

Some of the 25 people who survived a dive-boat capsizing in the Red Sea have described what happened and why the incident has raised safety questions.

Two britons are believed to be among the 11 people who died or have been missing since the incident.

As well as describing the terror of being trapped in a rapidly sinking boat, the survivors accuse the company which ran it, Dive Pro Liveaboard, of several safety failings. They also say the Egyptian authorities were slow to react, something which may have cost lives.

The BBC sent all the safety concerns to the Egyptian government and the company, Dive Pro Liveaboard, multiple times but are yet to receive a response from either.

After the disaster, the Egyptian authorities immediately opened an investigation into the sinking which is yet to report it’s findings.
