Suspect arrested for starting forest fire in Azusa.

Emergency responders were called to Pioneer Park shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Azusa Police Department. There, a witness told officers that the man who started the fire was still at the scene.

Officers were able to locate the suspect standing next to the flames. The man, identified as Jose Carranza-Escobar, was taken into custody and later admitted to starting the fire. Escobar, who was described as a transient, was arrested for arson.
