2nd Update: Government refuses to agree to expedited hearing on prorogation

Lawyer James Manson reports that the federal government refuses to agree to an expedited hearing in the prorogation case.

The applicants' lawyers will now have to proceed to a motion for an expedited hearing, which will be considered by the Federal Court in writing. Their materials have already been filed.

Crown attorneys have until noon ET on Thursday, January 16, to file responding materials.

The Court will then rule on the motion, determining whether the case is urgent or not.
