Burn: New Beginnings (part 12)

*After a long voyage at sea, Burn and his ship dock at the port of New York. He is exhausted, Gabriella is exhausted, but worst of all the limited moments of the Old Ones assault, before the white lightning scared the Old One away, ended with just one of that beasts talons scrapping the hull and ripping out quite a few cargo containers that held the ships food and water supplies. This resulted in Burn and his crew rationing many a need so beyond being exhausted they are near to starving and quite thirsty. But once docked they are immediately approached by an armed group that offers only welcome and a hand in friendship. They are the Free Militia, though more often they call themselves Hawks Heroes, a collection of mostly NYPD cops and NYFD firefighters who did not leave the city when the Devoted attacked but stayed to protect its streets and people. They haven't seen anyone from the outside in over two years, part of the reason they welcome Burn so quickly...they are just beyond shocked to see a ship from the east arrive...but more they wonder if Burn has anything to do with the white lightning that still is striking off in the west. That lightning has been scorching something every hour on the hour for over three months and its continual assault has caused a sudden change in the Devoted and other nightmares. The Free Milita takes Burn to their leader Benjamin Hawk, a former Police Chief who had been managing the day to day plans on how to defend the city from the Devoted but now his days are spent watching the Devoted and other Nightmares chaotically flee from every strike of white lightening while, strangest of all, mostly watching as many of them burst into flame if ever they actually watch the lightening when it does strike. Neither Burn nor Hawk has any clue what this lightning means, or what it is doing to whatever it is hitting out west, yet as they wonder the Old One deals with the same. That lightning actually hurts the Old One, keeps it from being able to approach the west anymore, yet it is then that Traul Faith...changed yet still Traul... approaches and offers a solution [AI Art]*
