In October 2022, the Australian Defense Forces (ADF) selected the SIG SAUER P320 as their new sidearm as part of a modernization effort under The Lethality System Project (LAND 159). This initiative is focused on equipping the ADF with advanced weapon systems, surveillance tools, target acquisition equipment, and support systems to ensure they maintain a capability advantage well into the future.

The variant chosen for the ADF shares similarities with the U.S. Military’s M18, featuring a PVD-coated Coyote Tan slide and a Coyote Tan XCarry grip module designed for enhanced control. It also includes a fully enclosed ROMEO2 Red Dot Optic for improved target acquisition and accuracy, as well as a custom FOXTROT2 weapon light for low-light conditions.

This P320 variant, designated SIGP320978, showcases the innovation and customization offered by SIG’s Special Weapons Group, making it a standout addition to the Australian Defense Forces' arsenal.
