Nicolas Maduro Proposes to "Liberate" Puerto Rico With Brazil's Help | Firstpost America

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro suggested he would invade Puerto Rico to liberate it from the United States. Maduro, who took oath for a contested third term on Friday, added he would take the help of Brazilian troops for a successful invasion. He made the remarks during the closing ceremony of the international anti-fascist world festival in Caracas. Maduro’s proposal involving Brazil also sparked reactions among critics, who say Maduro wants to establish himself as a leader in Latin American unity. Venezuela’s relations with Brazil have deteriorated over the past year, with Brazilian president Lula da Silva expressing concern over Maduro’s contested victory in the presidential election.
