Temporal aliasing occurs when a moving object is sampled at a frame rate that is insufficient or poorly synchronized with its motion, leading to distortions in how the motion appears.

This happens because the camera captures discrete frames rather than continuous motion, and if the frame rate is too low or aligns with the object's periodic motion, it can create misleading visual effects, such as the object appearing to move backward, stand still, or move irregularly.
