This letter strongly focuses on the need for Christians to not attempt to keep the Mosaic Law, or to feel they are required to keep it. There was a faction of Christ followers, namely former Pharisees, who thought anyone coming into a relationship with God had to first become an Israelite by being circumcised and keeping the law they had been taught for 1400 years. Paul strongly refutes this notion and warns this thinking would lead them to fall away. This teaching especially applies to the Hebrew Roots of today, and even to Seventh Day Adventism. Then Steve begins his verse by verse teaching with the 1st ten verses of chapter 1. There he emphasizes there is only one gospel and how that completely contradicts the false teaching of hyperdispensationalists.
