Alliance Ohio police responding to active shooter situation

Police had responded to a 7:41 a.m. emergency call from the building at 350 S. Arch Ave. Police have said two of the officers shot and killed 63-year-old Mason French.

Authorities have said French shot and killed 56-year-old Stacy Pride.

In September 2006, French was sentenced to 15 years in prison after a jury convicted him of felonious assault with a gun specification and having a weapon while under disability. The jury deadlocked on an attempted murder charge.

French had shot his daughter's boyfriend in the upper chest and left arm at a residence in the 1500 block of Gateway Boulevard SE in Canton in June 2006. French's daughter testified she had refused to let her father use her vehicle and that the matter escalated to a physical confrontation involving her boyfriend. French left, then returned and shot her boyfriend, she testified.
