The Sins That Will Send You to Hell

First Peter chapter 2 verses 1 through 3 delivers a sobering warning about sin, repentance, and the evidence of true salvation. The passage commands believers to cast off malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and evil speaking, highlighting that these sins are not minor flaws but damning offenses before a holy God. This passage emphasizes that sin is exposed before God, as Hebrews chapter 4 verse 13 declares, "all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." Without repentance, these sins will be the very evidence used to condemn a person at the judgment.
This passage stresses the necessity of craving God’s Word like a newborn craves milk. Without hunger for Scripture, there is no spiritual life. A lack of desire for God's Word reveals a dead heart, not a living faith. This passage challenges hearers to examine their lives and recognize if they have truly "tasted that the Lord is gracious”. If there is no hunger for holiness or truth, then salvation is likely absent.
All have sinned and fall short of God’s standard. The penalty for sin is eternal death, and no amount of human effort can satisfy God’s justice. But God, in His mercy, sent Jesus Christ, who lived a sinless life, died in the place of sinners, and rose from the dead on the third day. To be saved, sinners must repent and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The call to repentance is urgent, for no one is guaranteed tomorrow. Will you harden your heart, or will you run to Christ for mercy? The time to repent is now.
