Science, it is a LAW of physics, The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics: entropy is constantly increasing for every spontaneously-occurring natural process. More time = more disorder/decay. Although fatally flawed and misled, at least the prior version shut down by Louis Pasteur didn’t marry spontaneous generation to profuse passage of time. Both packagings of the theory are false but the abandoned one of the 1800s did less flying in the face of physics in this regard than the present Darwin version.
