Most people use hardly any Upper back mosculature when they are trying to do rows. This method of wrapping a band around your elbows takes your forearms and biceps completely out of the equation so you can focus on pinching your shoulder blades which is where your upper back muscles are. I used this as a warm up and to get a lot of my clients used to the feeling of their back muscles actually working before going into the settings.
