Deconstructing Dan McClellan on Genesis 2:17 "You Shall Surely Die"

Dan McClellan is a good proxy for a whole group of scholars who practice historical critical scholarship as the highest form of scholarship. Because of that, they get a lot wrong. McClellan has suggested that what God said in Gen. 2:17 was that Adam would physically die they day he ate the fruit. A closer look at how the "double 'muth'" phrase is used in the OT points to a different answer. One that is echoed in the New Testament and even contemporary Jewish culture.
