Let’s Talk! Redeeming The Tithe. Recorded 1/16/2025

From a long time ago now, I've sought to be consistent about bringing the tithe. I'm very familiar with hearing God's challenge, issued through the prophet Malachi, to bring all the tithes into HIs storehouse, that their may be provision in His house. He invites us to test Him in this, to see if He won't open the "windows of heaven" and shower us with blessings that are more than we can receive. And He promises that He will rebuke the "devourer"—the spirit behind regular episodes or a cycle of depletion and/or loss that seems to prevent or threaten forward progress in our finances and resources. He promises that we will be free from this cycle of loss and begin to experience increase.

Back then, for those for whom it was impractical to bring a tenth part of their produce from fields or of the reproduction of their livestock, God permitted the people to sell the tithe and bring its worth in money. Now, our produce is represented by our work, and our tithe is the first tenth of what we gross. But, between taxes, inflation, poor financial management or planning, and progressive thinking, many have decided that tithing is not possible, not convenient, or simply not necessary.
