How Going To The Bathroom Turned into a Felony

On January 23rd, 2023, officers responded to a health clinic in reference to a 5 year old child who was left alone by her mother for over 45 minutes. The offender did not speak any English and was oblivious to the fact that she had abandoned her child. Even with a translator, the female was having difficulty communicating with the officers. They decided to detain her for child neglect and after getting cuffed, she started laughing maniacally. The female was a Venezuelan immigrant who had recently moved to Florida. She also spat on an officer after being transported to jail. The female was identified as 31-year-old Andriena. She was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest without violence and child neglect. Her daughter was safely handed over to Child Protective Services.
