Let’s break down what happened and what you need to understand. Opposition Day motions are brought forward by the opposition — in this case, the Conservative Party of Canada. The government is the Liberals. The Conservatives put forward a motion to strengthen the criminal justice system and stop letting repeat violent offenders out on bail. The vote happened on October 6, 2025, and before the vote during Question Period, here’s what the Liberal Parliamentary Secretary for Combating Crime had to say: “Mr. Speaker, we completely agree that violent and repeat offenders should not be released back into our communities on bail.” So she agreed — but then she said the Liberals have better legislation than the Conservatives, and right after that, they voted no on the motion. A fistfight at a Michigan high school graduation nearly escalated into a mass shooting, officials said. Two suspects, ages 19 and 20, both with weapons-related criminal histories, were taken into custody after a threat to “shoot up the crowd” was posted on Snapchat and quickly removed. It took our hero a few seconds to realize this, presumably because he wasn’t prepared for being surrounded by a machete-wielding gang in the middle of his shift. Dashcam footage from an incident in London on June 23 shows this exact scenario play out, as a terrified man desperately fights off people trying to stab him. The attackers had pulled up behind the cab in another vehicle, and one of them smashes the cab’s window as blades fly at the passenger from all sides. The cab eventually pulls away, making the slowest getaway known to man (thanks ULEZ). Thankfully, the passenger’s injuries were not life threatening, but he still decided to go to the hospital, and perhaps wisely, decided to make his way there himself.
