If I had to use one sentence to describe this reality it would go something like, this reality; a system to condition a soul/spirit/consciousness into a submissive state to a "higher power".
I am open to the idea that it could be different for everyone bc I really don't know anyone else's perspective except for my own.
One pattern i noticed in the NDEs/ obe, the "psychedelic" and shamanic experiences experiences is that in every category I have heard others say as I had personally experienced the oddities of being exactly you as an awareness and personality with or without the body.
So I would say it matters the strength of our self determination and will as well as personal identification and resolve to create the full character that would be strong enough to pass any veil.
To get to the point where one should one exist or not being of no concern as you know yourself to be of the authority enough to correct any error that is altering your desire trajectory upon departure from whatever the hell this place happens to be.if I could say one sentence that everyone could feel

even being a "master" of others,
you gotta worry about what others are doing, always looking behind your back.
true freedom is a society of masters of self

where we know what freedom truly means and we protect each others freedom as if it were our own...
