Trump’s critics also forget the history of the Panama Canal. Ronald Reagan reminded us in 1976: “We bought it. We paid for it.” So why shouldn’t we keep it? The U.S. is still the number one customer of the Canal, but China is number two. President Trump knows the canal is a chokepoint for our economy and fired a warning shot at China in his inaugural address.
