Utah Yetis Trademark Rejected: What's Next for the NHL's Newest Team?

The Utah Hockey Club just hit a wall in its attempt to trademark "Utah Yetis" as their team name. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office shut it down, pointing out that "Yetis" might step on the toes of existing trademarks, including Yeti Coolers.

Fresh off relocating the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City for their debut season, they’re doubling down on nailing a permanent name before the 2025-26 NHL season. After running a fan vote with six finalists, they’re promising to keep the community in the loop as they inch closer to picking something that sticks.
