What's ironic is that Ford was one of the first women ladies to buck the trend of being a quiet, "traditional" first lady: "The first lady's role is a very important role, and sometimes I think it gets lost, and I think my mother was one of the beginners of changing that role," Susan explained to MLive a couple months back.
